About Our Funeral Home & Our Commitment to You

Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home has been serving the needs of families in New Britain, Berlin and surrounding areas with the highest level of professional service for over 50 years.

The funeral home began in 1944, when Robert W. Hansen, Sr. and his wife, Eunice V. Hansen purchased the Erickson Funeral Home from John A. Erickson, who had owned the business dating back to 1928. Robert Hansen's determination to provide a higher level of service to families and his extensive community involvement helped to expand the business over the ensuing years. In 1957, a major addition was made to the former facility, then located at 5 Hart St., to better serve the public. Over the years, additional property was acquired, allowing for further expansion of facilities and parking.

In 1973, Peter V. Hansen, son of Robert and Eunice Hansen, joined the firm as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. And later, in 1991, Robert W. Hansen, III, grandson of the owners, became associated with the firm as a licensed funeral director and embalmer, representing the third generation in the Hansen Family.

In the early 1990's, land was acquired and a new facility was constructed,to better serve the public, located at 411 South Main St., in New Britain. The new facility opened in November of 1992, and continues to provide the finest funeral home facilities available in the area. It includes multiple chapel/viewing areas, one level handicapped accessibility, private family gathering areas, and large off-street parking facilities.

With the new facility, Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home has rededicated itself to a level of service that cannot be found anywhere else. Today, we pride ourselves on the reputation we have earned from the families we have served. We are well known as the provider of highly personal, professional service in the finest funeral home facility.
