William J. Sitz

William J. Sitz, Sr., 88, of New Britain, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at the Wadsworth Glen in Middletown. He was the husband of the late Katherine Riggs Sitz. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Sitz Dembishak. He was a long-time New Britain resident and a former resident of Southington and Burlington. Bill was formerly employed at Wallace Barns/Associated Spring in Bristol and at New Britain Transportation before retiring. After retiring, he was employed at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home and Luddy Funeral Home. During retirement, Bill and Katherine enjoyed winter vacation in Florida. He was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, the UAW, and the New Britain Senior Center. Surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, William J. Sitz Jr. and Cynthia Sitz of Ft. Wayne, IN, Steven F. Sitz and Lisa Fine of Schenectady, NY, Robert D. Sitz of Southington and his former wife Nancy Sitz of Newington, Scott F. and Elizabeth Sitz of Middletown; 10 grandchildren, Tabatha, William III, Nikolai, Marika, Macauley, Laura, Andrea, Kristen, Jeff, and Lauren; a great-grandson Charles; his aunt, Marie Albert; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
