William "Bill" Guite

William S. "Bill" Guite, 65, of Berlin, husband of Sharon Guite, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015. Born in New Britain on June 22, 1950, Bill grew up in Berlin and was a Berlin resident most of his life. He was formerly employed in the Aerospace industry in various capacities and was a partner with his brother-in-law, Bruce Westman, in their business, Bleachers Sports & Teams Appeal. He was a member of St. Paul's Church. Some of Bill's happiest days were spent coaching Berlin Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Midget Football and from there he developed special relationships with the kids he coached. He showed genuine interest in all of his players and held a special place in his heart for each of them. He affectionately called his squad "The Toads from Toadland". Bill was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Surviving are his mother, Dawn (Scott) Guite of Old Saybrook; his loving wife, Sharon (Westman) Guite; a daughter, Heather Misterka and her husband Timothy of Wethersfield; two sons, Kevin Guite of New Britain, Brian Guite and his wife Haley of Cromwell; three grandchildren who were the light of his life and affectionately called him "Papa", Cayden, Logan and Aria; a brother, Jonathan Guite of Meriden and a sister Dawn Guite of Bristol; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Donna (Skewes) Westman of Newington; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gale (Westman) and Fred Reindl of Berlin; nephews, Andrew Reindl and David Reindl; and a niece, Ashley Westman. He also leaves many friends, too numerous to mention, who he considered his extended family. He was pre-deceased by his brother Robert Guite, sister-in-law Nancy Guite, and most recently in May, his father Wilfred Guite. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM directly at St. Paul's Church, Berlin. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-6 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111. Bill and his family gave the gift of life to others through the generous gift of organ donation.
