William A. Golyshko

William Andrew "Bill" Golyshko, 86, of Southington, husband of Jean Golyshko, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at the Hospital of Central CT. Born in Hartford, Bill was the son of the late Andrew and Eva (Truhan) Golyshko and was a long time resident of Southington. He was a U.S. Veteran who served in the Merchant Marines and then joined the Army, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was one of the original members of the Southington Fire Department Co. 5 and was a volunteer member for over 20 years. Bill was an active member of Bethany Covenant Church. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean (Freberg) Golyshko; five children and their spouses, William and Amy Golyshko Jr. of Momence, IL, Roberta and Gerard Moore of Plantsville, Dawn and Peter Demkow of New Britain, Jill and Wayne Fragola of Plantsville, Kenneth and Barbara Golyshko of Southington; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Larry Beck of Wethersfield; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Bethany Covenant Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
