Wilfredo Rivera Saavedra

Wilfredo Rivera, 58, a lifelong resident of New Britain passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2026 at home.

Wilfredo was born on January 21, 1968 in San German, Puerto Rico. He is predeceased by his mother, Ada Iris Rivera, who he loved and adored to the fullest. Wilfredo worked at C and S Wholesale Grocers in Windsor Locks until his passing.

Surviving is his wife, Gretchen Rivera; his father, Jose A. Rivera; his sister, Luz Selena Arroyo; and two children, a son, Wilfredo Rivera Jr. of Hartford and a daughter, Yesenia Rivera of Springfield Mass. Wilfredo also had three grandchildren; two nephews, Damian Arroyo and Dariel Arroyo; great nephews, nieces, and many cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Mary Church of St. Joachim Parish, 544 Main Street, New Britain. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
