Warren William Glatz, 84, formerly of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2018. He was the husband of Irene Glatz, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late William and Emma (Schmidt) Glatz. Warren was a New Britain resident most of his life and was formerly employed at Landers, Frary and Clark and later at Combustion Engineering until retiring in 1991. Warren was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and was a former member of the Board of Trustees at church. Warren was a long time member of the Berlin Lions Club and was a former superintendant of the Beer Booth at the Berlin Fair. As a Berlin Lions member, he was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, Knight of the Blind Award, and the Ambassador of Sight Award.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Irene (Kardok) Glatz; three sons, Gary Glatz and his wife Theresa of Kannapolis, NC, Jeffrey Glatz and his wife Carla Todeschini of Middletown, Michael Glatz of Milford, PA, and Glenn Glatz of West Hartford; a daughter, Pamela Grimard of Bolton; his grandchildren, Lyle, Kristen, Jennifer, Nicholas and Dominic; and his great-grandchildren, Isla, Charlotte and Edwin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Parsons.
Calling hours are Tuesday evening from 5 PM to 7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain, with a Berlin Lions Service to be conducted at 6:30 PM and a Memorial Service to be held at 6:45 PM.
