Walter R. Simcik

Walter R. Simcik, 82, of Southington, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. He was the husband of Sharon (McKeon) Simcik for over 53 years.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Walter L. and Sophie (Dawidowicz) Simcik. Walter grew up in Berlin before moving to Southington 53 years ago. He achieved a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of Hartford and an MBA from Syracuse University. He was employed as a human resource executive for various companies most notably Pratt and Whitney, Bernie's, Wilshire, and Commercial Sewing before retiring.

Walter was a member of St. Paul Church in Kensington and St. Thomas Parish in Southington. He was a fan of UConn Women's Basketball, his alma mater Syracuse, the New York Yankees, and New York Giants.

He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his career as well as working outside, refurbishing furniture, and taking care of his yard. Walter had a love of good food and that was known to all who knew and loved him.  When dining with Walter you knew that it would be an experience.

In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his son, Richard, and his wife Amanda of Middletown; two grandchildren, Natalie and Nolan; and five sisters, Carol, Patricia, Kathy, Marybeth, and Margaret; as well as his sister-in-law Barbara. He was predeceased by his brother, David and brother-in-law Charles Marciano. He enjoyed being Uncle Wally and godfather to numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends alike will remember his unforgettable, larger-than-life personality, his big voice, and his sense of humor.
