Violet (Bengtson) Carlson, 96, of Cromwell, and formerly of West Hartford, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. She was the widow of Carl Gunnar Carlson. Born in Smoland, Sweden, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Anna (Anderson) Bengtson. She was a 60 year resident of West Hartford before moving to Cromwell in 2000. Violet was formerly employed at CIGNA. She was a member of the Covenant Congregational Church, VASA, the Scandinavian Cultural Society, and was a volunteer with Girl Scouts. Surviving are two sons, Philip Carlson of Glastonbury and Fredrik Carlson of Burlington, VT; two daughters, Maris Cornell of Lebanon and Sally Ragone of Lyndhurst, NJ; nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Ludwigson and Virginia Swanson. A memorial service will be held on Friday April 26th at 2:00 pm at the Pilgrim Manor Chapel, 52 Missionary Rd., Cromwell.
