Vincent Flaminio

Vincent Flaminio, 91, a long time New Britain resident passed away after a long and courageous battle with Lewy body dementia at Countryside Manor in Bristol with his family by his side. He was the widow of his beloved wife, Olympia Flaminio, who predeceased him in 2014.

Vincent was the son of Frank Flaminio and Immacolata (Landolfi). He was born in Naples, Italy and came to the United States in 1960 with Olympia and their son Frank. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather—his family was his life. Vincent loved to sing and had an amazing voice. Singing songs that reminded him of his beloved city of Naples brought him great joy.  He was retired from Fafnir Bearing Company and together, with his beloved wife, they enjoyed many trips together during retirement before her passing. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Britain.

Vincent leaves behind to mourn his son Frank of New Britain, daughter Tina Forrest and husband, Michael, of Wethersfield, and daughter Sandra Shaw and husband, Darryl, of Kensington. He also leaves his grandchildren Erica Forrest, Michael Forrest and his wife Ashley, Darryl and Krista Shaw, and great grandson Michael Forrest III. He also leaves his sister in laws, Rose Flaminio of Bristol and Carmela Flaminio of Italy. He leaves many nieces and nephews both here and in Italy, including Robert Flaminio, Diane Pinell and Carol Brazil. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Giuseppe; and his sister and brother-in-law Rose and Vito Gallo.  The family would like to thank the staff at Farmington Station and Country Side Manor for the wonderful care given to him. Although we are heartbroken over losing our wonderful father, we take comfort in knowing that our parents are reunited once again.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain.  Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  A calling hour will be from 9–10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd, Southington, CT  06489 or to the CT Brain Tumor Alliance, PO Box 370514, West Hartford, CT  06137.
