Verna J. Galka

Verna J. Galka, 84, died on Oct. 24, 2016 at the Hospital of Central CT.  She was a lifelong resident of New Britain, CT.  Verna was the daughter of the late Erwind and Bertha (Fredrickson) Rustad.  Verna was employed by the State of CT and retired in 2000 from the CT Development Authority.

Verna is survived by her two daughters, Janet G. Clark of Portland and Shirley Galka and her spouse Susan Fabian of Kensington; a brother, Allen Rustad of Pennsylvania; a granddaughter, Sarah Clark and her husband, Shawn O’Brien of Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Theresa Rustad of Bristol, CT; and several nieces and nephews. Verna was predeceased by her brother Norman Rustad and her son-in-law, Alfred J. Clark.

A private memorial service will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be made to the House of Bread, 1453 Main St., Hartford, CT  06120.  The family would like to thank ”Dr. K” and the staff of the Hospital of Central CT and Msg. Bojnowski Manor for their care of our mother.  We are particularly grateful for their appreciation of our mother’s humor, wit, and grace.
