Thorsten L. Wennberg, Jr.

Thorsten L. “Turk” Wennberg Jr., 90, of Bristol, husband of Marlene Wennberg, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2021.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Thorsten L. Wennberg Sr. and Greta (Johnson) Wennberg.   Turk was a New Britain resident before moving to Bristol in 1962.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and was formerly employed at Southern New England Telephone Company for 37 years before retiring.  Turk was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed camping and was a volunteer at Pilgrim Pines in Swanzey, NH for many years.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Marlene (Bartley) Wennberg; a son, Scott T. Wennberg; two daughters, Sandra Cook and her husband Richard, Joy Cretella and her companion John White; a brother, Roy Wennberg and his wife Grace; his sister-in-law, Betty Wennberg; and two grandchildren, Jillian Cretella and Emma Cretella.  He was predeceased by a brother, Donald T. Wennberg, and by a sister, Beverly Jane Clapp.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 PM, outside, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.  Those attending are encouraged to bring a chair.  Visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Renovation Fund at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp St., Bristol, CT  06010.
