Thomas J. Manulla, 69, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Sunday. Feb. 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born in New Britain, he was a former Plainville resident and a New Britain resident most of his life. He was a graduate of St. Thomas of Aquinas High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in Puerto Rico. He was formerly employed in the telecommunications field and served as a volunteer at the American Cancer Society and the Disabled American Veterans Organization. Thomas was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Britain. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved going to the beach, especially Sound View. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and John Eshoo of Farmington; his mother, Enes (Gallo) Manulla of Plainville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Marie Manulla of New Britain, Richard and Donna Manulla of Plantsville; his former wife and friend, Ann Marie Manulla of Newington; many dear nieces and nephews, many cousins including a special and dear cousin, Darlene Jeanetti; a special aunt, Bernice (Gallo) Listro of California; and a special friend, Mary Beth Aparo. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Manulla. His family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Brittany Farms Heath Care Center and the doctors and staff at the Hospital of Central CT for their extraordinary care. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday evening from 4-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
