Thomas A. Hall

Thomas Hall, of New Britain, passed away on September 20 at the age of 72 after a brief illness.  Tom was the son of the late Ernest Hall and Renee (Peterson) Hall, who kept him busy growing up on the family owned and operated Ferndale Dairy in Kensington.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy (Wasserman) Hall, his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jason Pires, and his daughter, Erin Hall.  Tom has three beautiful grandchildren who were the lights of his life:  Julia Hall, Zoey Pires, and Zayla Pires.  As he was always surrounded by these girls, he jokingly referred to them as his “harem.”  Tom is also survived by his siblings:  Jon David Hall, Nancy Howse, and twin brother Timothy Hall.  He has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.  We could also fill the entire newspaper with the names of all his beloved friends.

Tom was a proud IBM employee for 35 years until he “retired;” but Tom was a very social person and he continued working at various other jobs, including Your Store in New Britain, where he was a staple to the patrons who loved to visit him. Tom also belonged to many different clubs, including the Quartette Club of New Britain, the Ancient Order of the Hibernians of New Britain, and the Polish Club of Berlin.  One of his passions was the Berlin Lions Club, where he served as an active member for over 40 years and held the honor of Club President and Berlin Fair President.  Tom holds the unique distinction of being the only fair president who had snow fall during his fair. He loved to serve, give back, and, of course, tend to the fair grounds.

There will be a memorial service at Kensington Congregational Church, of which Tom was a life long member, at 10 am on Saturday, September 23rd ; 312 Percival Avenue, Kensington .  There will be no calling hours.   In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you make a donation in his name to the Berlin Lions Club.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
