Theresa Khazarian

Theresa (Eknoian) Khazarian, 94, of Stratford, Connecticut died Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Theresa Eknoian in New Britain, Connecticut and was the youngest child and daughter of the late Gaspar Eknoian and Almas (Tandourjian) Eknoian.

Theresa worked in her youth at Fafnir Bearing in New Britain and was active in her church, St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church of New Britain. Once married, she moved to Stratford, Connecticut and spent many happy hours working with her husband, who was a pharmacist, at his corner drugstore, Stonybrook Pharmacy, in Stratford, Connecticut, making life-long friends in that neighborhood and throughout Stratford.

Theresa was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, and a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in New Britain. She was predeceased by her loving and beloved husband, Sarkis Khazarian, of Stratford, Connecticut, as well as her brother, Joseph Shabazian, of Farmington, Connecticut, sister Elizabeth Eknoian Wojculewicz of New Britain, Connecticut and brother Michael Eknoian of Berlin, Connecticut. Theresa is survived by her two children, Sarkis H. Khazarian of Hamden, Connecticut and Roxanne Khazarian of Stratford, Connecticut, as well as a niece, Susan Shabazian of Farmington,  a nephew, Joseph Shabazian Jr., and his wife Grace Shabazian, of South Windsor, Connecticut and loving in-laws, great-nieces and several cousins.

Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of New Britain located at 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051 is in charge of arrangements. Relatives and friends may call at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of New Britain from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Monday, January 27, 2020. Funeral services will be held immediately thereafter at St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Theresa Khazarian may be made to St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont Street, New Britain, Connecticut 06051.
