Susana "Ada" (Muniz) Diaz, 81, of Southington, wife of Angel "Ralph" Diaz and beloved mother of Susan Forbes, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Otilio Muniz and Juanita Gonzalez Muniz. She was a New Britain resident before moving to Southington 29 years ago. Ada was a graduate of St. Joseph College, where she received a B.S. Degree in Social Work. She was formerly employed at the State of CT as a DCF social worker before retiring. She was a founding member of the Puerto Rican Society of New Britain. Ada loved to spend time with her family and friends, dancing and singing to Spanish music. Surviving are her husband Angel "Ralph" Diaz, her loving daughter, Susan Forbes and husband William; four sisters, Victoria Nieves, Estebania Santana, Gala Acevedo, and Christine Bauer; two brothers, Julio Muniz Sr. and Guillermo Muniz; four grandchildren, Joshua Carrier, Tyler Carrier, Shannon (Carrier) Brown and her husband Robert, and Cody Swanson; one great-grandson David Thurston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, George Swanson, and by two brothers and a sister, Otilio Muniz Jr., Adrian Muniz, and Blanca Perez. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday (TODAY) from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
