Stephen Klotz, Jr.

Stephen Klotz, Jr., 89, of Newington, husband of Gladys Bonkosky Klotz, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General. Born in Berlin, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Kotrady Klotz. He was a Berlin resident for over 50 years before moving to Newington. Stephen was formerly employed at Pratt & Whitney in Southington. He was a US Army Veteran of World II, serving the in the Pacific Theater. Stephen was a member of the VFW and St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council, and where he was a member of the Men's Bowling League and the Mr. & Mrs. Club. Stephen enjoyed gardening and was a devoted Boston Red Sox baseball and UCONN Husky basketball fan. In addition to his wife Gladys, he is survived by two sons, Bruce Klotz and his wife Bonnie Adelson of Newington, Bill Klotz and his wife Eve of Effingham, NH; a daughter, Ellen Zagajeski and her husband Stan of Natick, MA; two brothers, John Klotz and his wife Lillian of Berlin and Donald Klotz of Florida; a sister, Mary Hyde of Cromwell; six grandchildren, Alex Klotz, Tim Klotz, Jane Zagajeski and her husband Christian Ely, Paul Zagajeski, Nora Zagajeski, and Johanna Klotz; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother George, and by three sisters, Ann, Helen, and Irene. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Calumet, P.O. Box 236, West Ossipee, NH.
