Stephan Harlow, 86, of Columbia, CT, went to be with the Lord on December 27th after a brief illness. He was the son of Margaret and R.E. Harlow. He is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Louise (Johnson) Harlow and his sisters, Mary Lou Steffen and Rhoda Hess. Born in Africa in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo to missionary parents, Stephan graduated from high school in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended Emmaus Bible College and received a degree in architecture at the University of Illinois. Drafted into the Army, he served at both Fort Monmouth, NJ and Fort Huachuca, AZ. He used his creativity and architectural skills for many years at Deck House (Acton, MA), the Office of Michael Rosenfeld (Acton, MA), and in his own practices in Carlisle, MA and Merritt Island, FL.
Steve will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children Kay Stevens (Columbia, CT), Steve and Julie Harlow (Hudson, MA), Jen and Jon Wortmann (Enfield, NH), grandchildren Layne Stevens and Faith and Luke Harlow, and beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A committal service will be held privately with family at Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. The funeral service will be January 12th at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Lebanon, 694 Trumbull Hwy, Lebanon, CT. In lieu of flowers, Steve would love donations to be made to Everyday Publications, Inc. (everydaypublications.org in Port Colborne, Ontario) or Emmaus Bible College (Dubuque, Iowa), both founded by his father.
