Sophie B. Truglio, 95, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at the Jerome Home on Friday, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Anthony “Ted” Truglio, and her brother, Louis Bazzano.
Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Luciano and Maria (DiMauro) Bazzano. Sophie graduated from New Britain Senior High School and was formerly employed at Landers, Frary and Clark, and later at D&L in downtown New Britain before retiring. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church and it’s Ladies Guild.
Surviving are three children, Joseph Truglio and his wife Sharon of East Hampton, Mary Ann Collin and her husband Dan of New Britain; Paul Truglio and his wife Francine of Berlin; six grandchildren and their spouses, Daniel (Anne) Collin Jr., Anissa (Matthew) Berasi, Joseph (Maureen) Collin, Peter (Susana) Collin, Marissa (Thanh) Nguyen, and Chloe Truglio; eleven great-grandchildren, Everett, Noah, Zachary, Mason, Arabelle, Eliza, Penelope, Rory, Emerson, William and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews, including her devoted niece, Loreen Bazzano, who spent countless hours by her side and held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at Jerome Home for their loving care and support.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home
