Solomon Orion 74 Haynes, 20, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2019.

He was a junior majoring in audio engineering technology at the University of Hartford. He was a 4 time dean’s list honor student with a love of music. He hosted a popular weekly radio program on student radio station WSAM, and colleagues remember him as a source of wisdom and an incredible friend. In high school, he found his passion for music production at ParaDYM Academy in New Britain, where he continued to work while attending UHart. He ran the production studio, mentored students and stressed the importance of putting hard work into every project.  He did engineering projects with local music artists across the country.  He taught himself to play the guitar and piano, going on to take piano lessons to learn to play swing music.

Solomon also worked at New Britain ROOTS, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting food security and agricultural education. This summer, Solomon was a program assistant, building school gardens alongside young students and elderly citizens groups.

Solomon leaves behind his older brother, Gabriel Michael Guevara of New Britain; his aunt, Antonette Guevara, of New Britain; his mother Carol Guevara, of Hartford; his father Curtis Haynes; and many cousins and numerous friends.

Calling hours for Solomon will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Divine Providence Parish (St. Peter’s Church), 98 Franklin Square, New Britain.
