Sofio Lanteri

Sofio Lanteri, 84, beloved husband of Elvira (Pulvirenti) Lanteri, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Hospital of Central CT.

He was born in Sortino, Sicily, Italy on September 20, 1937 and was the son of the late Vincenzo and Sofia (DiMauro) Lanteri.  Sofio was a mason in Italy prior to moving to New Britain in 1958.  He continued working as a mason while being employed at Fafnir Bearing Company where he worked for over 30 years.  He was a parishioner of St. Joachim Parish, St. Ann Church.  Sofio enjoyed traveling back to Italy with his immediate family on many occasions.  Most of all, he treasured his time spent with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Sofio is survived by his two sons; Vinny Lanteri and his wife Maria of Berlin, Joe Lanteri and his wife Lisa of South Windsor, his three siblings; Rosa Rapisarda, Anthony Lanteri and Sebastian Lanteri, his six grandchildren; Matthew, Michael, Mark, Kara, Joshua and Jessica Lanteri, and several nieces and nephews.  Sofio was predeceased by his sister Sarina Trigilio.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dorin and his staff at Hartford Healthcare for their care of Sofio over the years, and the staff at the Hospital of Central CT for their kindness during his final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Church, New Britain on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain prior to services on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.  Please share a memory of Sofio with the family in our guestbook.
