Sixta Rosado Sanchez, 89, of New Britain passed away peacefully into the arms of God and joined her predeceased grandchildren on March 31, 2009 as her family watched over her. Sixta was born on January 6, 1920 in San German, Puerto Rico to the late Maria A. Sanchez and Juan Rosado. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her remembers her as a loving, funny, sharing, respectful, and caring person. She was the queen bee of her family; her family always came first. She loved playing Bingo, going to the casinos, and making her famous arroz con dulce. Sixta is survived by her children and grandchildren who were the love of her life. Her children: Maria E. Arroyo and her husband Reynaldo of Puerto Rico, Luis Santos and his wife Maria, Benjamin Santos and his wife Elizabeth, Mario V. Santos, Ramona Planas and her husband Jose, Juan Rivera and his wife Elsie, Gladys Lewis and her husband Harry, Maria Rosado and her husband Simmon. Her grandchildren: Aida Rivera, Osvaldo Rivera, Maria V. Rivera, Marilyn Rivera, Lissette Espinosa, Janet Planas, Jose E. Planas, her nena Yahaida Planas, Harry Jr., Alex, Francisco, and Mary Lou. Her great grandchildren: Eddie, Felix, Chloe, Nia, Gabriel, Ariana, and Hannah Sixta. The family would like to give special thanks to her loving caregivers Aurora Figueroa and Marta Planas, to the CT VNA Hospice nurses and staff, and to the C-Unit nurses and staff of the fifth floor at the Hospital of Central CT. Lastly, we want to thank Dr. Berger and Dr. Devers practicing in New Britain and Dr. Brugge of Massachusetts General. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
