Sirarpi “Sima” DerBoghosian, 81, of Plantsville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at the Hospital of Central CT, Bradley Memorial Hospital.
Born in Syria, she was the daughter of the late Bedros and Siranoush Bekelian. Sirarpi came to the United States in 1970, and was a former Southington resident before moving to Plantsville in 1979. She was formerly employed at Lori Lock Corp. in Southington, before retiring. Sirarpi was a member of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in New Britain and St. George Armenian Apostolic Church in Hartford.
Surviving are her son, Asadoor “Arthur” DerBoghosian and his wife Arpine Geolchanyan of Plantsville; a grandson, Eduard DerBoghosian; and two sisters Mari Bekelian and Kenar Zamgochian. She was predeceased by a brother, Hagop Bekelian.

To get to know Sirarpi (Sima) was to fall in love with life and the world. She was an outgoing person that loved to take care of people, show concern for all and make people laugh. She was grateful for everything that came into her life. Also, Sirarpi had a lot faith. Her energy was infectious. Always a positive person, who was looking to support her family. She never tired of hard work. She always set an example of a great mother, sister, friend and Christian. Like all great mothers; helping her son understand life, how to work hard, never giving up and love everyone for whom they are. Sirarpi raised a boy to become a man. Her son Asadoor (Arthur) always looked after his mother until her last breath. To have a mother like Sirarpi is rare in this world. Showing and not just telling her son on how to grow and be a better person and Christian. Always forgiving of others and loving them. She would not allow herself to feel hate. Rather, showed people love and compassion. She would always tell people to do good things and not hold on to a list of deeds. She led by example. If one word were to describe Sirarpi; it would LOVE.
Please take time to cherish the ones around you. Be grateful for all God gives. Life is not an inexhaustible well. Remember to slow down and make your loved ones a priority. Life is made up of moments in time. At the end of our lives comes reflection. How well have I lived my life? Did it have purpose? Have I continuously shown love? Have I represented God well? The moments in life are limited with the ones we love. Never forget to make them feel significant. For one day, they may not be here anymore. You will be left with memories. Also, A piece of them will live on through you.
God bless you all.
