    Silvio "Sid" Colangelo, 92, formerly of Berlin, CT, passed away peacefully in Beaver Falls, PA on June 10, 2018 with family by his side.
    
   
  
Born April 19, 1926 in Torrington, CT, he was the son of Frank and Emily (Williams) Colangelo. He was a United States Navy veteran of WWII, having proudly served on the subchaser SC-1020 in the Pacific Theater. He participated in the Battle of Okinawa. After the war, he graduated from St. John’s University and became a pharmacist. He owned Berlin Pharmacy in Berlin, CT for 35 years with his business partner Nicholas Stefanou. His many hobbies included reading, skiing, boating, and restoring and racing British and Japanese sports cars. Later in life he enjoyed golfing at the Timberlin golf course in Berlin, CT. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, CT. He was also a member of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association, VFW, Knights of Columbus, the Forever Young Club at Sacred Heart Church, and the Italian Independent Club.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Connie "Tina" Colangelo. He leaves behind his brother Frank Colangelo of Harwinton, CT, son Michael Colangelo of California, daughter Jean Orawiec of Pennsylvania, his two grandchildren Michael and Shawna, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 48 Cottage St., East Berlin, CT. Burial will be in the Maple Cemetery, Berlin, CT. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
