Shirley Ann King

Shirley Ann (Bell) King, 73, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., wife of Norman King, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at home. Born in Rockville, CT, she was the daughter of the late B. Brainard and Dorothy (Massey) Bell of Glastonbury. She was a graduate of Baypath College and was a former Berlin and Newington resident before moving to South Carolina 14 years ago. Shirley loved her summers spent at Columbia Lake. She was formerly employed as a florist, working at several florist shops in our local area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, Norman King, her son Dean Petow Jr. of Kensington, daughter Sheril Sarra of East Windsor, son Scott Petow and his wife Sharon of Lebanon, son Rick Petow and his wife Wendy of Collinsville, Danean and Bob Warburton of East Hartford, son Bruce Petow and his wife Lisa of Vernon, step children Steven King and his wife Kimberly of New Britain and Rhonda King of Newington; a brother, Arthur Pomeroy of NH, stepbrother Ron Dougherty of Glastonbury; and nineteen grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, David Pomeroy. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury. Calling hours are Thursday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
