Scott A. Dubree

Scott A. Dubree (aka Scottie Budweiser), 56, joined his heavenly family unexpectedly on June 17 th , 2021 while doing what he loved most, working outdoors helping his family.  Scott was born in New Britain, CT to the late Earl W. Dubree and Judy (Odrick) Dubree. He lived the first half of his life in New Britain and later settled his home in Berlin to raise his family.  Scott was a larger-than-life character, if you met him once there was no forgetting him, he had friends from all walks of life.  The kind of guy who didn’t care if you mopped the floor or had a desk in a corner office, he would happily treat you with the same respect.  He was a simple man who worked hard and played harder. Throughout his lifetime Scott worked for many employers; DiMatteo Construction, Accelerated Landscaping, Nadeau Brothers Concrete, Managed the Meadowland Restaurant (talk about a change of pace), SNET and finally CL&P / Eversource where he found more than a job – he discovered his union brothers and sisters who he loved dearly.  He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 457.  Scott was one of the hardest workers known to mankind with a heart of gold, they don’t make many like him anymore.

When Scott was not working, he found a great deal of enjoyment throughout his life. His grandchildren were his #1 priority, he had great pride in Whole Donut runs for the kids and Big Papa moments of teaching, hugs, and laughter.  Eagle Lake, Maine is where he would spend his vacation, up at 4:30am grabbing a coffee @ the local gas station to meet up with his “Cackling Hens”, then tinkering on everything needing repair before the house awoke.  He was sure to follow that with a cruise in the side by side or on snowmobile, he was home in the woods – God’s Country.  His favorite and possibly only true place of peace was by his fire pit on the beach, where he’d spend the evenings enjoying his favorites, an ice-cold bud, and a lakefront view.

He found an interest in performance diesel pickup trucks through his son, Justin and loved hot rodding his power stroke trucks any chance he could once the New England winter broke. This led him to his newfound vacation spot Woodbury, TN where he attended an annual 7.3L Jamboree and made friends from all corners of the country.

Scott and his wife Jennifer fell in love with Cancun Mexico for their margarita getaways and chose to make it their family vacation destination as members of the Omni Cancun Vacation Club where they made many friends who they continue to vacation with annually. The only place you’d ever get a glimpse of Scottie (“Sexy Mustache” as he’d be called there) with two irregular things - flip flops and tequila.

When he wasn’t holding frozen drinks on the beach, Scott had the special ability of finding himself the best bartenders in Central Connecticut at his local establishments. Due to his active work schedule, he often found his day off after a night shift and was always up just in time for Happy Hour. He enjoyed his corner barstool lunches at Wood n Tap, his evenings at Tavern on the Trax or The Avenue, followed by a pizza break at Bill’s.   No matter where in the country the barstool resided, he always managed to make a bartender fall in love with him. His morning routines were just as impactful, Whole Donut, The Citgo in town, N.E. Muffin Factory family all held a big part in Scott’s heart.  His laughs and witty remarks made him a lot of friends in the service industry and he always was sure to take care of them like his own family.

Scott always had an open-door policy, he often found himself on his back deck enjoying the company of his sons and their friends who were always family when they entered the Dubree house. Once Scott joined the neighborhood, he was welcomed by the Kozikowski family and always loved to help his neighbors the best he could.

Scott was blessed to share his life with his wife of almost 31 years, Jennifer Fournier-Dubree, and was proud to be a father to his two sons James & Justin Dubree, and his daughter in law, Courtney Pelletier.  His greatest blessing was becoming a Papa to his grandchildren Scott Dubree & Finley Dubree. He loved his sister, Donna Betancourt and her husband Edwin Betancourt, their children Krystle, Ashley & Joey and his brother, Earl W. Dubree Jr and his partner Beverly Lajoie.  Love continued for his sister-in-law Michelle Fournier and her wife Maryann Sobolewski and brother- in-law Mark Fournier, his fiancé Kate Westover, his nephew Mark Jr., along with brother & sister-in-law Eric and Allison Chute.  Scott was pre-deceased by his mentor, friend & father-in-law, James Fournier. Survived by his wife, Anne Marquis Fournier and mother-in-law, Marie-Jeanne Fournier.  He had several aunts, uncles, and cousins who he enjoyed creating memories with.

Scott also loved his four-legged “Fur Babies” Princess, Hope & Faith for no one could ever take better care of them than he did.
