Sarkis Yirigian, 83, of Newington, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday. He was the beloved husband of Angel (Boyajian) Yirigian. Born in Turkey, he was the son of the late Harout and Nazale Yirigian. Sarkis is a former New Britain resident, moving to Newington 41 years ago. He was a Tailor for many years at Goldberg's Department Store and later retired from there. Sarkis was a member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection where he was a member of the Seniors group, a former advisor to the Youth Group, and a former member of the Parish Council. In addition to his wife, Sarkis leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Beverly Yirigian of West Hartford, a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ivan Simonetti of New Jersey, two grandchildren Rachel and Robert Yirigian, a sister Haiganoush Berberian of Plainville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Khatchig, Missag, and Hagop and a sister Zanazan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
