Santo Calafiore

Santo Calafiore, 82, of Newington, formerly of New Britain, passed away peacefully Monday, October 3, 2022.  He was the beloved husband of Krystyna (Antkiewicz) Calafiore.  Santo was born in Solarino, Sicily, son of the late Salvatore & Paola Calafiore.   He was the owner and operator of Santo Driving School, LLC since 1966.  Santo was predeceased by his first wife, Domenica (Alibrio) Calafiore, and a brother Salvatore Calafiore.

He will be dearly missed by his son Salvatore Calafiore and his wife, Mary of Wethersfield; his daughter’s Paula Perez and her husband Fabian of New Britain, Carmela Ciavarella and her husband Mark of Thomaston, and Nella Centurelli and her husband Joe of Berlin; his stepson Patryk Antkiewicz and his wife Magdalena of Bialystok, Poland; his sister Anna Calafiore of Hartford; his loving grandchildren Paul, Jennifer, Jessica, Michael, Samantha, Anthony, and Vanessa, as well as many family and friends.

Santo found his life’s greatest joy in teaching students from all around the world his multi-lingual, and special techniques for safe driving education.   He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, singing, dancing, his love of travel, spending time at the casino, and being an active member of numerous Italian Clubs and organizations.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Ann Church of St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Monday, October 10, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
