Sandra Anne Davenport

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sandra Anne Davenport announces her peaceful passing, surrounded by loved ones, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut (formerly New Britain General Hospital), on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, after a brief illness.

Sandra turned 86 years old on February 1st. She was born in Mapleton, Maine, to the late Walter E. and Madaline (Fillmore) Trott. A graduate of Kennebunk High School in Kennebunk, ME, she eventually settled in New Britain, CT, where she raised her family.

Sandra attended the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating first in her class in 1972 — all while raising four small children. With a brilliant mind, deep empathy, and unwavering dedication, she devoted her life to nursing. She began her career at New Britain Memorial Hospital, specializing in caring for patients with significant special needs. She later worked at Newington Children's Hospital, focusing on young patients with traumatic brain injuries, followed by Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain, where she specialized in geriatric care. Sandra finally retired in 2016 at the age of 77, having dedicated decades to improving the lives of her patients.

Beyond her career, Sandra's greatest devotion was to her family. She is survived by her four children: Athena Casarotto D'Angelo and her fiancé, Anthony Sierchio, of Toms River, NJ; Christopher Casarotto of New Britain; Jeff Casarotto and his wife, Sonya, of Newington; and Marcia Casarotto Scalise and her husband, Robert, of New Britain.

She was the beloved "Baba" to 14 grandchildren: Olivia, Troy, Christopher, Joey, Jesse, Alexander, Athena, Michela, Cameron, Daniel, Loring, Matthew, Wesley, and Tyler. Sandra is also survived by her ex-husband and dear friend, Silvio Casarotto of New Britain, the father of her four children. She will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Although Sandra lived in many places across the U.S., she always considered Millinocket, Maine, her true home. She loved hosting family and friends at her beloved camp, sharing the paradise she and her sister, Betty Tessman, cherished. She generously taught everyone how to embrace and respect "lake life," creating lasting memories for all.

Sandra was a woman of many interests. She loved boating and fishing when she was "upta camp," painting, playing Bingo (especially with her dear sister and trusty sidekick, Betty), playing video games, and spending time with her many animal companions. She also spoke fluent Italian and some Polish, delighting patients with her linguistic skills. And she was always happy to join anyone in search of a good IPA!

She was predeceased by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Tessman; and her brothers, Loring and Philip Trott.
