Salvatore Richard DiMauro passed away on June 21, 2022. He was born on June 4, 1931 in New Britain, CT to his parents Jennie (Mangifico) DiMauro and Jack DiMauro. Salvatore attended school in New Britain, CT. After high school he joined the US Army and served for three years in Korea during the Korean War. Salvatore loved to play the drums and was a very talented drummer. He joined the New Britain Fife and Drum Corps as well as the New Britain High School Band before enlisting into the Army. While serving in the Army in Korea, Salvatore joined the Army band and marched in many parades. As a member of the band, he got front row seats to Bob Hope during his many US tours. In fact, Salvatore got to meet Mr. Hope in person too.
After being discharged from the Army, Salvatore entered trade school where he learned tool and die. In 1956 he co-founded a thread grinding business named Par Mfg. with partners Tony Parretta and John Vaselina Sr. It was located in Farmington, CT. He worked there for many years before retiring. In addition to being a machinist, Salvatore also formed his own wedding band playing many venues throughout Connecticut and other states.
Salvatore met the love of his life Ann Marie (Giannone) and married her on August 7, 1954. They were married for 68 years and they have three sons together as well. They took up residence in West Hartford, CT literally behind his father in-law who had owned the lot and saved it for his daughter when she got married.
Salvatore loved to play golf and played throughout his adult life. He joined Avon Country Club and was a member for many years. Salvatore also loved to get involved with charity work and became a Charter Member of the Farmington Unico and served as a member for over 50 plus years even serving a term as their President. Salvatore organized many Unico golf tournaments and spaghetti dinners and various other events throughout his years as a Unico member. In fact, Unico named their spaghetti dinner in his Honor. It’s called the Sal DiMauro Spaghetti Dinner and Salvatore holds this Honor with high regard too.
Salvatore would often travel with his wife to many places in the US such as Hawaii, California, Las Vegas, New Orleans and many other places throughout the country. They would visit Australia, Italy and many other countries as well.
Salvatore once sponsored his own bowling team and won numerous awards and trophies. He even had a trophy room built in his home office in West Hartford, CT showing off all of his bowling accomplishments.
Several times during the winter months his cousin Dick Magaldi summoned Salvatore to help sell Christmas trees in Florida. Dick owned a large section of land and ordered hundreds of trees from up North and had them transported down South. Since Salvatore had a knack for gab and was a natural born salesman, he and a few other family members would often spend the winter season selling everything from trees to wreaths. As the years passed, Salvatore decided to make Florida his winter home by taking his wife and renting a place in Florida for several months during the winter season. Eventually they agreed to buy their own house in West Palm Beach and became Florida residents but returning again to Connecticut in the summer.

Salvatore’s wife Ann (Giannone) DiMauro predeceased him.   Salvatore leaves behind his loving sons; Richard and his wife Judith DiMauro, Kenneth and his wife Eileen DiMauro and Salvatore Jr. and his partner Patti, his grandsons; Curtis DiMauro and his partner Erica, Andrew DiMauro and his partner Jessica and Jack DiMauro, and his granddaughter Vanessa and her husband Brendon Woolley.    Salvatore also leaves behind his sister in-law Joyce (Edgar) and her husband Bill Gagnon as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his sister Nancy (DiMauro) Banks.
