It is with great sadness in announcing the passing of Salvadora Bermudez on October 28, 2019. Salvadora was born on February 6, 1935, in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Salvadora was the beloved and cherished daughter of the late Cecilia Lugo De Bermudez and late Santiago Bermudez Mendez.
Salvadora’s legacy to her family is her lasting love, her belief in the value of hard work, and her uncompromising commitment as a wonderful mother, dedicated grandmother and doting great-grandmother. Those who knew her will always remember her generosity of spirit, her warmth, and her kindness.
She is survived and will be missed dearly by her daughter Marian I. Vazquez and husband Hector Serrano of New Britain, CT, and sons Benjamin Rodriguez of New Britain, CT, and Jose Manuel Alvarez of New Jersey. Her granddaughters Lucia M. Rolon of Springfield, MA, Wanda I. Torres of New Britain, and Melina Lopez and husband Roberto Lopez Jr; her great-grandchildren Jose Torres, Pedro Carrasquillo, Suliana Rolon, Jose A. Carrasquillo, Mikeila M. Flores, Sylvana M. Gonzalez, Isabella Lopez, Samuel Lopez and Heriberto Luna Jr.; and great-great grandchildren Allias Alexander and Aria Maria Torres. She also leaves several great-nephews Pedro Alvarez, Jose Alvarez, great-niece Madeline Alvarez, family and friends of which she adored. Salvadora will be sorely missed by all who were blessed enough to know and love her. Salvadora was predeceased by her daughter Maria A. Alvarez and son Pedro Alvarez.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Amberwood’s for their love, care and dedication to our beloved Salvadora.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 9:00AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please bring a nonperishable food for Maria’s Place CCSU Food Pantry.
