Sadie Mae Alexander, 89, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at Andrew House Healthcare. She was the widow of John Alexander. Sadie was born in Dawson, Georgia on Nov. 14, 1924 and was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Nichols) Wells. She was a New Britain resident for over 30 years and formerly employed at Monarch Laundry. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church, was a volunteer at the Hospital for Special Care Thrift Store and also volunteered at the Friendship Center. Surviving are three daughters, Betty Williams, Mary Ann Solomon and Eleanor Kitchens; seven grandchildren, Carla Agar, Ronald Williams, Pamela Williams, Charita Williams, Shan Lakes Khalid Abdul-Wahid, Cedric Lakes, and Eleanor Mallory; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Lakes, and by a grandson, Mike Mallory. A Homegoing Celebration and calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.
