Ruth (Lange) Valenti, 78, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at Middlesex Healthcare Center on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. She was the beloved wife of Richard L. Valenti for 59 years. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Marie (Weidner) Lange. Ruth has been a New Britain resident most of her life and also a former resident of Plainville. She worked as a Member Services Representative for the State Police Credit Union for many years. Ruth was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking car rides with her husband to Rhode Island and Maine. She was a very talented crafter who loved sewing, knitting and needlepoint. Ruth was admired by her family for her expertise in cooking and baking. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Martin Graff of Marlborough, Laura and Gerard Caron of Bristol, Karen Valenti and Thomas Poland of New Britain, six grandchildren, Christian, Erica and Lisa Graff, Kimberly A. Godfrey, Brittany and Alyssa Caron, a sister Helen Valenti of New Britain, and a sister-in-law Leonora Cooper, as well as other extended family. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Donna V. Godfrey, her brother Walter Lange, her brother-in-law Nicholas Valenti, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harry and Dorothy Bregonzio, a brother-in-law David Cooper. A Memorial service will be held on March 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in Ruth's honor.
