Ruth (McIntosh) Postl, 99, died January 17th in Kensington, after a short illness. Born in the Town of Russia in New York State to Bert Collins and Daisy Pierce McIntosh, she was the youngest of five children. She has resided in the Kensington-New Britain area since 1934. Ruth came to Connecticut in 1934 to visit her brother and stayed in the Kensington-New Britain area the rest of her life. She worked at the former Union Manufacturing Company during the war years as a secretary. In 1956 she was office manager to Dr. Bliss Clark, a surgeon returning from military service. The next year he and five other doctors formed Grove Hill Clinic, now known as Grove Hill Medical Center. She continued working at Grove Hill until her retirement in 1981, having spent the last 14 years as Business Manager of the group. During her business career, she was a member of Soroptimist International. After her retirement, she volunteered as a driver for cancer patients, as a secretary to the Berlin YMCA and Peck Memorial Library. She is survived by her daughter Lisa R. McIntosh of Kensington, a very special nephew, Ted McIntosh of Shelburne Falls, MA, two special "honorary nieces", Esther McIntosh and Helen Dorsey, an "honorary daughter", Roberta Dumais and many nieces, nephews and grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her three brothers and one sister: Dr. John P. McIntosh, Donald G. McIntosh, Bert K. McIntosh and Mabel Wood. At Ruth's request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to CCARC, Slater Road, New Britain or Kensington Congregational Church in Kensington.
