Ruth K. Fritzell entered the Kingdom of her Lord and Savior on December 30th, 2013 at the age of 82. Born in Hartford Connecticut on April 3rd, 1931, she attended local schools in the central and south central Connecticut area. In her early 20's she played violin with the Hartford Symphonic Orchestra. During this time she married Earl Berntsen and had four children, Richard, Donald, Deborah and Thomas. She married Carl Fritzell on February 18th, 1968 and had one daughter Kathy Fritzell, also becoming the step mother to Carl's children: Elizabeth, Carol, Nancy, Carl, Douglas, Gary and Gail. They lived in Hamden and Cheshire, and for many years in North Haven. She was active in several Covenant Churches in Connecticut including Haddam Neck Covenant, Evangelical Covenant of New Haven and Bethany Covenant of New Britain and Berlin. She was a choir member of Bethany Covenant and previously she served as a deaconess while at Evangelical Covenant. She worked in various positions including child care and Bloomingdales by mail. Then she worked for U.S. Surgical. In 1997 she moved to Cape Cod and worked for "the Old House" in Bourne while she lived with her daughter Kathy. Ruth was also active at Bay Community Alliance and its forerunner Grace Alliance Church. Ruth was known for her friendly manner and strong desire to be at every service the church held. While at home she loved listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither's, and was able to attend several Gaither concerts with her daughter Kathy. She also loved watching the Hallmark channel and Christian television series. Ruth loved her family and after moving to the Cape, she enjoyed her visits to Connecticut to see her children, grandchildren Wendy Berntsen, Kimberly Halkiotis, Kenneth Berntsen, and Samantha Berntsen as well as her great-grand daughters Lilly Berntsen step great-grandson Aiden and great-grand daughter Stella Halkiotis. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Carl, her son Donald and her grand-daughter Wendy. She was the daughter of Robert and Ida (Langston) Kittredge, and she leaves her two sisters Roberta (Kittredge) Hemmann and Isabelle (Kittredge) Isham. She also has a grand-daughter Heather Damberg.
