Roy S. Wennberg

Roy S. Wennberg, 93, of Kensington, CT and North Eastham, MA, husband of Grace (Melander) Wennberg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Thorsten and Greta (Johnson) Wennberg.  Roy was a former New Britain resident, graduating from New Britain High School in 1949, and was a longtime resident of Kensington. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.  Roy was formerly employed at Rogers Sash and Door Co. for 43 years before retiring. He was a former member of the Home Builder’s Association.

Roy was a longtime member of Bethany Covenant Church and the Cape Cod Covenant Church.  He was an active volunteer in the community and had a heart for helping people and organizations such as his church, the Friendship Center, and the Children’s Home of Cromwell.

Surviving are his beloved wife Grace; three daughters, Gail Cianci-Hageman, Susan Yantz (Thomas), and Sharon Orlich (Daryl); five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jane Clapp, two brothers, Thorsten Wennberg Jr. and Donald Wennberg, his son-in-law, Doug Hageman, and by his grandson, Richard Cianci Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11 AM at the Kensington United Methodist Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in South Burying Ground.  Calling hours are Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
