Roy Douglas Fongemie, 50, of New Britain, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at Andrew House Heath Care after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Lori (Nichols) Fongemie. Born in Bristol, he was a New Britain resident for the past 25 years. He was formerly employed as the custodian at St. John the Evangelist Church in New Britain and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Danielle Fongemie, a son, Douglas Fongemie, and his son-in-law, Marvin Jimenez, all of New Britain; a brother, Ronald Fongemie and his wife Barbara of Bristol; two grandchildren, Kayleb and Tyler; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tom and Sandra Nichols, Dana and Valeri Roy of Southington, Troy Smelter, Keith and Julie Smelter, all of Meriden, Tammy and Scott Fields; his mother-in-law, Lois Nichols of Meriden ; his best friend, David Candag, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Nelson Fongemie. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
