Roy Carl Bergstrom

Roy C. Bergstrom, 87, of Cromwell, died on Sunday, February 12 at Middlesex Hospital. He was the husband of Lorraine (Nelson) Bergstrom for 63 years.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Hilma (Pihl) Bergstrom. Roy was a former White Plains NY resident educated in the public schools. He was a graduate of Tufts University, class of 1950. Roy is a veteran of ROTC Navy from 1946–1948 and Air Force 1950-1954, serving in Okinawa. He worked in the Foundry business for 36 years in Naugatuck, and 26 years as the President of Commercial Foundry in New Britain. Roy was an active member of Bethany Covenant Church for 51 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Karen Larson and her husband David of Austin TX, Mark Bergstrom and his wife Cindy of Mendon, VT, Kristen Thompson and her husband Mark of Middletown. Roy was a loving grandfather to Kim Larson Kozak, Carl Larson, Lindsay Bergstrom, Travis Bergstrom and his wife Anna, Gabrielle Thompson, Kristina Thompson, Joshua Thompson and his wife Ashley. He was a great grandfather to Chloe, David, Bethany, Anthony, Valentino, Natasha, Jacob and Max. Roy was predeceased by his brother Paul Bergstrom.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Interment will be in the Memorial Garden at Church. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Camp Squanto scholarship fund, 220 West Shore Rd., Swanzey, NH 03446.
