Rose Mary Sama

Rose M. Arena Sama, 94, of Rocky Hill, formerly of New Britain, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at a local convalescent home. She was the widow of Peter Sama. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Mary Arena. Rose lived in New Britain most of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, where she was a past member of the Rosary Guild and also worked at Bingo for many years. Rose is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law; Richard and Debra Sama of Enfield, Donald and Gail Sama of Newington, four grandchildren; Terri Jean Hagist, Susan Mosher, Melissa Sama, Jordan Sama, four great grandchildren; Anthony James Fusco, Arina Rose Hagist, Leland Charles Hagist, Ella Flynn Mosher, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church, New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will held today from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Masonicare Partners Home Health and Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, second floor, East Hartford, CT 06108. The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab, formerly Elm Hill Nursing Center, for the wonderful care and friendship shown to Rose during her stay with them.
