Rosa Julia Saavedra, 84, of New Britain, widow of Jeronimo Saavedra, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.
Born in San German, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Americo Rossy and Antonia Saavedra. Rosa was a New Britain resident since 1960 and was a member of St. Mary Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family and singing folklore music of Puerto Rico.
Surviving are four children, Alberto Saavedra, Milton Saavedra, Olga Vega and Rosa Rosado; and many brothers and sisters including Confessor Rossy, Israel Rossy, Maria Santana, Gladys Rossy and Norma Pabon; many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Luz Maria Santana; and two brothers, Marcial Rossy and Eddie Rossy. The family would like to thank the staff at Ledgecrest Healthcare Center, the Hospital of Central CT, and the Davita Dialysis Unit at the Hospital for their care and kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or any Dementia Support group.
