Rosa Marino

Rosa (Scalora) Marino, 94, widow of Salvatore Marino, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Rosa was born in Priolo Sicily, and was a long time resident of New Britain where she resided for 54 years.

Rosa was employed as a seamstress for American Bazaar for 9 years.  She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church in New Britain.  Rosa enjoyed cooking with her family making many of her favorite Italian dishes.

She is survived by her son, Antonio Marino of New Britain; three daughters, Virginia Rizzo and her husband Joseph of Plainville, Giuseppa Avella of New Britain, and Nella Mitsou and her husband Michael of Farmington; three sisters, Lucia Travoto and her husband Nunzio, Olga Saraceno, and Yolanda Ciccio and her husband Bruno; nine grandchildren, Joanne (Steve) Stranieri, Rosa (Steve) Lachance, Chris (Lindi) Mitsou, Salvatore (Zara) Mitsou, Salvatore and Enzo Marino, and Joe, Sal, and Ursola Avella; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Rosa was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.  The family would like to thank Hartford Health Hospice Community and Kareen and Thomas Home Care for their loving care of Rosa.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Church, St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
