Rosa Calafiore

Rosa (Gozzo) Calafiore, 70, of Farmington, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2022, with her loving family by her side.

Rosa was born on January 1, 1952, in Solarino (PR Siracusa) Italy to the late Salvatore Gozzo and late Salvina (Germano) Gozzo. She grew up in Italy and attended school there. She married the love of her life Antonino Calafiore on March 7, 1970, and shortly after moved to the USA. They resided in New Britain, CT where they started their family before moving to Farmington in 1987. They recently celebrated their 50 th Golden Anniversary. Rosa worked at Stanley Works for nine years.  She was a member of St. Ann Church and a member of the Italian American Ladies Society. She enjoyed sewing, coloring, cooking, and hosting family parties.

Rosa is survived by her beloved husband Antonino Calafiore of 51 years; her four adoring children, Salvatore Calafiore of Bristol, Anthony Calafiore and wife Jill of Burlington, David Calafiore of Farmington, Michael Calafiore and wife Alicia of Berlin; her grandchildren, Emily, Anthony and Gianmichael Calafiore who were her pride and joy; her brother Michele Gozzo and wife Cettina of Italy; her brother-in-law Pasquale Calafiore and wife Connie of Farmington; her brother-in-law Paul Calafiore and wife Anna of Florida; her brother-in-law Giuseppe Calafiore and wife Tanina of Berlin; her sister-in-law Maria Gervasi and husband Aurelio of Farmington; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Salvina Gozzo, and her nephew Valentino Gozzo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 11:30 AM at St. Ann Church of St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Walk through calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.  Social distancing and masks will be required.
