Ret. Police Captain Ronald T. Minas, 63, of Amston, CT, formerly of New Britain, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at home. Born and raised in New Britain, he was the son of the late Harold and Theresa Minas. He was a New Britain resident most of his life. He was a Retired Police Captain with the New Britain Police Department, with over 30 years of distinguished service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a Navy SEAL. Surviving are his beautiful daughter, Amanda Minas of Fairfield; two sons, Capt. Scott Minas, U.S. Air Force, and Private Ronald Minas Jr., U.S. Army; a sister, Dorothy Carvahlo of Southington; two grandchildren, Alex Paul and Alison Nicole; three nieces, Nora Joan and Frances; a nephew, Brian; and his beloved dog, Cooper. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 6-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:15 Am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Following the church service, friends and relatives are invited to a reception at the home of Rita Giancola, 61 Lexington St., New Britain.
