Roland J. Pelletier, 70, of Berlin, beloved husband of Rosemary Dubois Pelletier of 46 years, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Born in Madawaska, ME, he was the son of the late Fred and Helene Dumond Pelletier. He was a former New Britain resident and a Kensington resident for over 37 years. Roland was formerly employed at Firestone, in New Britain, C& S Ballbearing in Meriden, Abbott Steel Ball in West Hartford, Thompson Pioneer Precision Ballbearing in Unionville, and retired as a supervisor of ABS Ballbearing in Unionville in 1998. He was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Past Faithful Navigator, and as Past Color Guard Corps Commander. He was also a member of St. Jeans Society, and St. Paul’s Church, where he formerly served as an usher for several years. In addition to his beloved wife Rosemary, he is survived by a son, David Roland Pelletier of Berlin and Michael Pohl of Manchester; his brothers and sisters, Irma Pelletier of Canada, Armand Pelletier of Florida, Roger Pelletier of Maine, Thelma Hopkins of Florida, Rosemarie Gauvin of Bristol, Blanche Cyr of North Carolina, Romeo Pelletier of Vermont, Edna Sweet of Iowa, Cecile Casey of Maine, Lorraine Gosselin of Terryville, Ronald Pelletier of Berlin, Sylvia Nadeau of Bristol, and Edwina Sirois of Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Milford Pelletier and a sister Nora Pelletier. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 7:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Kensington. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6 – 9 PM at the Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the Hospital for Special Care and the Hospice of Central CT for giving Roland dignity to the end of his life.
