Roland Paradis, 73, of Bristol, loving husband of Jean Skidgell Paradis, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Bristol Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fort Kent, ME, he was the son of the late Felix and Hattie Guimond Paradis. He was a former New Britain resident before moving to Bristol 15 years ago. He was formerly employed at Fafnir Bearing Division of Textron and was a member of St. Mary Church. Roland loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife Jean, he is survived by eight children, Elizabeth Sawyer and husband Robert, Roland Paradis Jr. and fiancée Debbie, Carl Paradis and wife Amy, Robert Paradis and wife Karen, Pamela Vollmer and husband Charles, Jacqueline Paradis and fiancé Arthur , Darren Paradis and wife Lori, Kevin Paradis and fiancée Veronica. Also surviving are nine brothers, Alva, Leo, Gilman, James, Felix, Edgar, Norman, Victor, and Lucian, two sisters, Theresa and Doris; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Rene. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, New Britain. Burial will be held privately in St. Mary Cemetery.
