Roger W. Carlson

Roger W. Carlson, 84, of Cromwell, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2011 in Cromwell. He was the widower of Lucille (Plitt) Carlson. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ethel (Nygren) Carlson. Roger was a former Newington and Kensington resident before moving to Cromwell twenty years ago. He was employed at Stanley Works for many years and later worked as a salesman of industrial hardware for Builders Hardware, retiring in 1987. In retirement, he worked for PDQ Manufacturing in Rocky Hill. Roger was a former member of the Newington Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster in Kensington, Troop 45. Roger was a member of Bethany Covenant Church where he served as Head Usher and was formerly on the Board of Trustees. He was also a former member of the Svea Club and served in the US Army during WWII. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Gale C. and Jay Hall of Loudin, NH, his son and daughter-in-law, Philip A. and Paula Carlson of Brunswick, GA, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alden and Arlene Carlson of Cromwell, Bill and Janet Carlson of Farmington, his grandchildren, Christopher Carlson, Jimmy Ollari, Kathryn Davis and her husband Spencer, two great grandchildren James Robert Ollari and Sophia Marie Ollari, and cousins in Sweden. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Wethersfield Village Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CVOC Benevolent Care Fund, 52 Missionary Rd., Cromwell, CT 06416 or to Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin, CT 06037. The family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Village of Cromwell for the loving care and kindness extended to Roger and his family. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
