Rodney Richard Barrett, 87, of Kensington, husband of Patricia Barrett, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 at Ledgecrest Health Care Center.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Edith (Nelson) Barrett. Rodney was a lifelong Berlin resident and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Raymond Engineering, before retiring. Rodney loved airplanes and was a volunteer at the New England Air Museum for over 30 years, where he worked on restoring the B-29 bomber “Jack’s Hack”.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Stevens) Barrett; his son, Dale Richard Barrett of Kensington; and his daughter, Sharon King and her husband Ronnie, also of Kensington.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 4-6 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. A private burial, with military honors, will take place at South Burying Ground in Kensington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111 or to the New England Air Museum at Bradley Airport, 36 Perimeter Rd., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
