Robert Lee “Bob” Williams, 71, departed this life on Tuesday, July 23 rd , 2019 at UCONN John Dempsey Hospital, surrounded by his beloved family. He was a native of Dawson, GA., and son of the late Rev. Nehemiah (Bish) Williams and Johnnie (Ma’dear) Williams.
He was a husband, father, friend, brother, and a God fearing man. He was a loving and kind-hearted person with a joyous spirit. He will be remembered for his distinct and contagious laughter. Of course, he was everyone’s favorite. Bob was very humble and always lent a helping hand and a big hug.
Robert was predeceased by two brothers Nehemiah (Bud) Williams and Willie (Dude) Williams, two sisters: Carrie B. Porter and Hattie B. Harrold and granddaughter Jasmine Nicole Williams.
Robert “Bob” leaves to mourn his wife, Lillie B. (Turner) Williams the love of life. His son Eric D. (Karla) Williams of New Britain and daughter Monica Williams of Dawson, GA. one grandson, Eric D. Williams Jr. and four granddaughters, Shaniyah R. Williams , Kiara Green, Brittany Williams, and Yolanda Kellum, 4 great grandchildren and 1 god daughter, Kennedi O. Joseph.
As the Lord calls him home, he leaves a plenty of memories left with his siblings. one brother, Raymond L. (Ellen) Williams of North Lauderdale, Fl., five sisters, Fannie P. Henry of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.; Annie (Harold) Gainey of Plainville, CT; Mattie Booze and Louise Jefferson of New Britain, CT; and Dorothy (Bernard) Scott of Mauldin, SC. In addition, he leaves two brother in-laws; Jimmy (Tressie) Turner of East Hartford and Raymond Turner of New Britain. two sister in-laws; Jessie P. Williams of Manchester, CT and Minnie (Michael)Teal of Manchester, CT. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
For many years he worked as a machinist for Fafnir Bearing Fenn Manufacturing Company and most recently, for Rexel Distribution for the past 18 years.
He enjoyed playing chess and backgammon with nephews, working on cars, riding motorcycles, dancing, spending time with his family and friends and plenty of travel.
Robert “Bob” also takes on the title of Grill Master, as he loved to display his cooking expertise on the grill.
