Robert V. Peterson

Robert V. Peterson, 96, a life-long resident of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020 at Apple Rehab in Cromwell.  He was the widower of his beloved Elizabeth (Clebowicz) Peterson with whom he enjoyed a lifetime of adventure and travel.

Born in New Britain, he was the eldest son of the late George and Ebba Louise (Carlson) Peterson.  Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and, as a member of the Third Armored Division “SPEARHEAD”, was the recipient of the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.  He was a longtime employee of the Fafnir Bearing Co. before his retirement from there in 1988.  Robert was a charter member of the New Britain Hunting and Fishing Club and a member of VFW Post 511, the Elks Lodge 957, and the SVEA Social Club.

Surviving Robert are his sister, Roberta Cogswell of Roswell, GA, and several loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, with a funeral service to be held at 11 AM.  Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
