Robert L. Mccann

Robert L. McCann, 80, of Kensington, husband of Judi (Wolf) McCann, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.

Born in East Berlin, Bob was a 1956 graduate of Berlin High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  Bob was formerly employed as a plant manager at Tilcon Tomasso before retiring and was a member of Local 478 of Operating Engineers.

Bob was a member of the Berlin High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  He was a four year letterman in football, being selected as co-captain during the 1955-56 Season.  In his senior year, he was recognized as one of the best running backs in the state.  Bob was an All State football selection in his senior year and was recruited by Boston College, Boston University, and Trinity.  Bob was also a four year letterman in basketball and baseball.  He was the co-founder of the Berlin Midget Football program in 1978.

In retirement, Bob enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Timberlin Golf Course, and was a former member of the Italian Independent Political Club.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Judi (Wolf) McCann; a son, Michael McCann and his wife Gwen of Kensington; a daughter, Tracee Kradas and her husband Edward of West Hartford; two sisters, Patricia McCann of Pittsboro, NC and Susan Prusaczek of Port Charlotte, FL; and five grandchildren, Alexandra, Samantha, Nicole, Maya, and Grace.  Robert was predeceased by his brother, Thomas McCann.
