Robert Bohdan Kowalchyk

Robert Bohdan Kowalchyk, 73, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Hospital of Central CT. Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, he was the son of the late Rev. Peter Kowalchyk and Mary (Konik) Kowalchyk. He was a long time Newington resident and was employed at the Connecticut State Department of Labor as a community service representative. Robert was a very active member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and served as Vice President of the General Council at church. Surviving are his son, Scott R. Kowalchyk; a brother, Peter Kowalchyk of Fort Worth, TX; a sister-in-law, Nancy Kowalchyk; two nieces, Karyn and Kathy; and his fiancée, Kathleen Ustanowski. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lenore (Saucier) Kowalchyk, and a brother, John Kowalchyk. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Burial will take place in the St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetery. Calling hours are at church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
